[So Ankh up and vanished two weeks ago. He left a pair of feathers for Eiji and for Rei, and Fluff doesn't seem overly concerned by his absence, but he pulled a fucking Houdini and is just gone. And he stays gone! A few days, no big. He's a wild animal, for all intents and purposes, learning to be domesticated or not, sometimes he's just gotta disappear for a while. But when days become a week and a week becomes two, well... Maybe that's cause for alarm.]

[Even moreso when Eiji gets a message from him, exactly two weeks after his disappearance. He's... Well, it's hard to tell where he is, really, since he's ducked up under and behind something and it's kinda dark. He looks mostly all right, apart from a little disheveled.]

Eiji. Oi-- Eiji.

[Eiji nearly drops the warp band when he gets the message. He's at work, putting away things on the shelf when it goes off in his pocket. He pulls it out with curious look, wondering just who is actually contacting him and then-]

Ankh!

[He has to duck behind the shelf so customers don't see him using it.]

Ankh, where have you been?

[tsunbird]

[He goes quiet, the entire warp band's view shifting as he sinks into a crouch, and shakes his head.]

That's none of your business. I planned to be back already, but that didn't work out. Fluff and them all right?

Everyone's okay. What happened? Why didn't you take anyone with you?

[VERY WORRIED LIZARD HERE.]

[tsunbird]

Are you deaf or just not listening? None of your bus--

[He stops mid-word, ducking down again at a sound off-screen. He looks pretty thoroughly spooked, and when he looks back to the screen he's talking quieter.]

Anyway, that's not the point. I might be a while, so make sure they don't get in any trouble. Asshole in particular, you know how he gets.

[EIJI IS ALSO SPOOKED.]

They're fine, where are you. [He practically hisses the last part.]

[tsunbird]

[He actually considers telling him for a brief moment, and it shows in the way he hesitates and looks at the screen. But then there's more noise from behind him and he shakes his head.]

Nowhere, I'll be back later. Just don't--

[The backdrop gets abruptly brighter in a flurry of motion, and there's a surprisingly short number of swears from Ankh.]

Just look after them, okay? I've gotta go.

[The feed cuts off, and Shit proceeds to Get Very Real.]

[Anyone in the shop is probably very startled.]

[But he shouts a few more times at his warp band hoping that it comes back on. It doesn't.]
